Fungal CE15 GEs were found to improve the enzymatic saccharification of corn fiber.

GEs degrade ester LCCs between lignin alcohols and glucuronic acids in xylans.

A preference for bulky arylalkyl substrates mimicking LCCs was observed.

GEs may act as auxiliary enzymes in enzymatic saccharification of lignocellulosics.

Hereby GEs improve access of cellulases and hemicellulases to plant poysaccharides.
