尾-Sialon powders were synthesized by sol–gel and microwave carbothermal reduction.

The formation temperature is as low as 1250 °C.

Ultrafine 尾-Sialon powders were granular with primary size of 69 nm.

The relative content of 尾-Sialon was predicted by BP ANNs.

The values calculated by the ANNs matched well with the experimental ones.
