A mixed integer linear programming approach for optimal DER portfolio, sizing, and placement in multi-energy microgrids

This paper presents a MILP model for optimal design of multi-energy microgrids. Our microgrid design includes optimal technology portfolio, placement, and operation. Our model includes microgrid electrical power flow and heat transfer equations. The case study shows advantages of our model over aggregate single-node approaches. The case study shows the accuracy of the integrated linearized power flow model.
