A novel orthomyxovirus-related virus (designated Sinu virus) was isolated from mosquitoes in C6/36 cells. The complete genome of SINUV was sequenced. Sequence analysis indicates that SINUV is a member of the family Orthomyxoviridae. SINUV is phylogenetically closest to viruses to the genus Thogotovirus.
