The accuracy of the phase-resolved luminescence measurements is limited by noise.

A method for estimating the standard error in phase-resolved measurements is proposed.

Spectral analysis of the noise is performed from the FFT of the recorded signal.

From each single measurement, information about the associate uncertainly is provided.

The proposed method was successfully applied to an oxygen measuring system.
