Influence of contaminant to hydrogen peroxide to catalyzer molar ratio in the advanced oxidation of thiocyanates and ammonia nitrogen using Fenton-based processes
H2O2 activation with Fe(III) and Fe(II) was assessed for SCN− and/or NH3–N removal. For SCN− and NH3–N removal, H2O2 activation by Fe(III) was better than by Fe(II). Efficiency of SCN− removal increased with H2O2 and Fe(III) concentrations. SCN− was efficiently removed even at 4 °C by the Fenton-based processes. SCN− were oxidized into SO42− and recovered CN−.
