Nrf2 activator prevents methylglyoxal-induced cytotoxicity and protein modifications. MG treatment resulted in accumulation of modified proteins bearing the structure of CEL and MG-H1. The promotion of GSH synthesis by activation of Nrf2 is a key response to MG detoxification.
