Kinetic schemes are developed for the CPO of n-octane and i-octane over Rh.

The role of C-species is investigated by combining kinetic tests and Raman measurements.

The rate of oxidation follows the order: CH4 ≪ C3H8 ≅ i-C8H18 < n-C8H18.

The rate of steam reforming follows the order: n-C8H18 ≪ i-C8H18 ≅ CH4 < C3H8.

In the CPO of octanes, the onset of steam reforming is hindered by C-poisoning.
