TiO2 growth is limited by molecular volume of adsorbed ILs (steric hindrance).

Shorter hydrocarbon chain-IL cause formation of TiO2 with increased photoactivity.

The presence of N<font color=single bond" data-inlimg="/entities/sbnd" src="/sd/grey_pxl.gif" class="glyphImg imgLazyJSB">Cdouble bond; length as m-dashN species are beneficial for enhanced photoactivity.
