WC-12%Co cermet coating was deposited on AISI 321 SS by air plasma spraying. The concentration of microdefects was decreased after laser re-melting treatment. Corrosion rate was decreased to 7.07 mpy after laser re-melting of coating. Impedance analyses suggest improved barrier properties of laser remelted coating.
