Pseudoxanthoma elasticum is associated with calcification of (cerebral) arteries. In the Dutch PXE cohort ischemic cerebrovascular disease was highly prevalent. These findings are supported by a systematic review of the literature. This study shows that PXE has a cerebrovascular phenotype. Cardiovascular risk management in PXE patients remains important.
