Heroin users show high novelty seeking, reduced striatal DAT, and poor cognitive flexibility. In heroin users, the striatal DAT availability is linearly linked to cognitive flexibility. In heroin users, the striatal DAT availability is nonlinearly linked to novelty seeking. An inverted-U-shaped relationship exists between novelty seeking and DAT in heroin users.
