Crosstalk investigation in channel-drop filters with coupled-cavity based wavelength-selective reflection feedbacks

We have investigated analytically the crosstalk in the channel-drop filters with a coupled-cavity based wavelength-selective reflection feedback. We show that using a systematic design method a high drop efficiency multi-channel-drop filters (CDF) can be achieved with a distinct crosstalk. Furthermore, a photonic crystal (PC) low crosstalk eight channel-drop filter (8 CDF) has been presented, which can be used in wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) systems. The finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulation results of the presented device, which is implemented in two dimensional PC, show the validity of the proposed design approach.
