Countercurrent saccharification of lime + shock pretreated corn stover was studied. To reach a given glucan conversion as compared to batch, countercurrent saccharification reduced enzyme loading by 1.9 times. A simple packed column was proposed to perform commercial-scale countercurrent saccharification. The performance of various antibiotics was studied.
