The mineralogical and chemical of Neogene clays from the basin of Jijel have been studied. The Clay deposits are rich in kaolinite and illite, with high percentage of quartz. Clay contain a high content of CaO (9–17 wt.%) and Fe2O3 (5 to 8 wt.%). Raw materials are suitable for making bricks and tiles.
