A research on structuring a Shewhart control chart for clean coal ash content was proposed. Three types of process variability of clean ash during the coal preparation process were proposed. The effects of ash analyser error and time series autocorrelation were considered before constructing an ash control chart. The estimation method of the control chart parameters for monitoring clean ash was presented. An application of the control chart with the given standard values in the coal preparation process was presented.
