Demonstrates the influence of uncertainty in the lifeline of a landfill plant. Uses stochastic modelling approach to account for parametric randomness. First theoretical model with correct landfill lifeline estimate 12.5–33 years. This facilitates designing and planning of successful landfill plant. This study sets a benchmark for stochastic modelling in landfill dynamics.
