ZnO superstructures were synthesized via a facile solvothermal approach. Mesocrystal structure played a pivotal role in the enhancement in photocatalytic activity. Urea played multiple roles in the formation of superstructure. The mesostructured ZnO exhibited high photocatalytic activity and durability.
