MLST typing on all these Xinjiang Brucella strains revealed 4 STs with 2 novel STs that were not previously reported.

MST analysis showed a close relationship between Xinjiang B. melitensis strains and those of East Mediterranean subgroup. MST analysis showed a close relationship between Xinjiang Brucella melitensis strains and those of East Mediterranean subgroup, implying a common origin of these Chinese Brucella melitensis isolates and those from the Middle East and Central Asia.
