Defect free crystals of pure and Co2+ ion doped L-alanine cadmium chloride were grown. The optical, dielectric and magnetic properties of pure crystals were enhanced by adding Co2+ ion. High optical transmittance was obtained in the entire visible and IR region. Addition of dopant to the pure crystal altered the coercivity. Low dielectric constant and dielectric loss favours opto electronic applications.
