The pKa of (2,3-dimethylbutyl)(2,4,4′-trimethylpentyl)phosphinic acid (INET-3) was 5.45. The extraction mechanism of INET-3 for heavy RE(III) was investigated. The extraction capacity and stripping acidity of INET-3 for heavy RE(III) were examined. The separation efficiency of INET-3 for heavy RE(III) were studied.
