Irradiation of poly-p-phenylene (PPP) with visible light resulted in the dehalogenation of aryl bromides and chlorides. Combining PPP with TiO2 accelerated the photocatalyzed dehalogenation of the aryl halides. Irradiation TiO2 alone resulted in no dehalogenation of the aryl halides.
