PCDDs and PCDFs were mainly retained in chars but little in gas phase. The net formation of PCDFs was generally low compared to PCDDs. Torrefaction of particle board containing PCP resulted in high formation of PCDDs. Cassava containing high chlorine but low catalytic metals resulted in low PCDD/Fs. PCDD/Fs were originated from both new formation and physical transformation.
