Chlorogenic acid (CRA) induces apoptosis in Candida albicans. CRA induces potassium efflux leading to apoptotic volume decrease. Block of the potassium channels inhibits the apoptotic effect of CRA. Potassium channels play a key role in regulation of the CRA-induced apoptosis.
