Examined behavioural and brain indices of error awareness in heavy drinkers. Heavy drinkers made more errors but were as aware of them as controls. Also no group difference in error-related negativity (ERN) or error positivity (Pe) to errors. Heavy drinkers’ deficits in monitoring behaviour are not due to reduced awareness.
