2D directional space representation is distorted in memory (oblique effect). Expansion at cardinal-compression at oblique axes results from space categorization. Subjects reached to memorized virtual targets on an imaginary half sphere in 3D. Surface expansion at cardinal-contraction at oblique directional axes was observed. The same space categorization of direction in memory extends to 3D space.
