Chromium and iridium effects on the short-term interdiffusion behaviour between Pt rich γ-γ′ bond-coatings and a Ni-Al-Cr alloy

Cr addition increases the uphill Al diffusion to the surface during the interdiffusion of Pt / γ-(Ni,Al,Cr) at 1100 °C. Al and Cr have a positive chemical sinteraction in presence of Pt. Pt has a negative chemical interaction with Al and Cr in such a way that Pt decreases their activities. Ir slows down the interdiffusion of Pt-Ir / γ-(Ni,Al,Cr) at 1100 °C and decreases the Pt effect on Al activity by dilution.
