The inorganic salt KCl was firstly applied to the synthesis process of SBA-16 materials to increase its order degree.

SBA-16 materials with five kinds of different morphologies were successfully synthesized by adjusting the synthesis conditions.

The synthesis mechanism of SBA-16 with different morphologies was proposed.

The NiMo/Al-SBA-16 catalyst obtained at the synthesis temperature of 50 °C exhibited the highest dibenzothiophene hydrodesulfurization conversion of 95.2%.
