The TCNC membranes were produced via a facile vacuum-assisted method. The superhydrophilic and underwater superoleophobic TCNC membranes could separate oil/water efficiently. The cholesteric TCNC membranes weaved with fibrous TCNCs had homogeneous pore size and no pore wall, leading to the high flux of water. The TCNC membranes could separate not only oil-in-water nanoemulsions, but also oil-in-water and water-in-oil microemulsions. The TCNC membranes exhibited high mechanical strength, excellent pH- and temperature-stability, and good cycling performance.
