A Gβ-like/RACK1 protein VdRACK1 in V. dahliae is required for host root penetration. Deletion of VdRACK1 results in hypervirulence in root-wounded cotton plants. Deletion of VdRACK1 inhibits microsclerotia production. Deletion of VdRACK1 severely reduced conidiation.
