The structure and polarity of surfactants play roles in the phorbol esters extraction efficiency. The kinematic viscosity of the surfactant solution affects the phorbol esters extraction efficiency. More than 90% of crude protein can be maintained in pressed jatropha (Jatropha curcas L.) seeds after the phorbol esters extraction. Using cloud-point separation, phorbol esters were enriched up to 91% in the rich surfactant phase. The rich-phase from cloud point extraction can directly be applied as a product for pesticide control.
