Whole egg powder and its fractions were efficiently digested by MIC. The proposed MIC method allows the determination of Br and I by ICP-MS at very low concentration. A high throughput was possible (up to 8 samples digested in less than 30 min). Only diluted solutions (50 mmol L−1) were necessary for Br and I absorption. Very low carbon content in digests was obtained, avoiding interferences in ICP-MS analysis.
