Poor quality of communications with health professionals was associated with high levels of psychological distress in family caregivers to cancer patients. Poor quality of communications with health professionals was associated with low levels of trust in health professionals in family caregivers to cancer patients. Self-efficacy in health information seeking significantly and partially mediated the relationship between communication with health professionals and psychological distress. Self-efficacy in health information seeking significantly and fully mediated the relationship between trust in health professionals and psychological distress.
