[Au(C≡CPh)(PTA)] (PTA = 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane) is easily synthesized. [Au(C≡CPh)(PTA)] induces apoptosis selectively in undifferentiated Caco-2/TC7. [Au(C≡CPh)(PTA)] does not affect cell viability of differentiated enterocytes. [Au(C≡CPh)(PTA)] inhibits Thioredoxin reductase activity. Unlike of cisplatin, [Au(C≡CPh)(PTA)] does not interact with nucleic acids.
