Activated oil palm ash zeolite/chitosan (Z-AC/C) cross-linked composite beads were synthesized from oil palm ash and chitosan. Low-cost bio-adsorbent Z-AC/C composite beads can efficiently absorb both cationic and anionic dyes. The adsorption process was accurately described by kinetic and isothermal models. The adsorption capacity of the Z-AC/C composite for MB and AB29 was comparable with that of similar adsorbents.
