Synthesis and properties of AxV2Al20 (A = Th, U, Np, Pu) ternary actinide aluminides

Crystal structures of AxV2Al20 (A = Ce, Th, U, Np, Pu) were studied using XRD. Physical properties of A0.8V2Al20 (A = Ce, Th, U, Np, Pu) compounds were investigated. U, Np and Pu compounds show strong 5f hybridization despite exceeding the Hill limit. Low-frequency Einstein phonon mode was observed in specific heat of Ce, U and Np compounds. Np0.8V2Al20 is a promising candidate for a Np-bearing superconductor.
