We tested the hypothesis that metaphor and idiom processing is related to verbal hallucinations. We measured current verbal hallucinations and the propensity to verbal hallucination-like experiences. We took into account potential confounders. Metaphor-comprehension deficit was related to verbal hallucinations in patients with psychosis.
