Quantities of solid waste are generated by shrimp processing industries. Shrimp waste is recognized as an abundant resource of bioactive compounds. Overview of the comprehensive utilization of shrimp waste in recent years is summarized. The new environmentally friendly and cleanly biotechnological methods are reported. Future challenges and trends in comprehensive utilization of shrimp waste are prospected.
