A digital pen learning system (DPLS) for mathematics course was developed. An experiment was conducted to compare the effects of different teaching modes. The DPLS was enhancing implementation of collaborative problem solving. The approach improved the students' learning achievement. The approach improved the students' learning motivation and attitude.
