Investigation the effect of super hydrophobic titania nanoparticles on the mass transfer performance of single drop liquid-liquid extraction process

A novel in situ sol-gel method was used to synthesize hydrophobic TiO2 nanoparticles. The overall dispersed-phase mass transfer coefficient of titania nanofluids increased up to 70%. TiO2 nanoparticles are more effective for bigger drops containing lower concentration of solute. A simple model was developed to predict the overall dispersed-phase mass transfer coefficient of nanofluids.
