An aluminum substrate has been modified to obtain a hydrophobic surface. The hydrophobic-treated substrate was tested during condensation of steam. Filmwise condensation was observed. The hydrophobic surface display enhanced heat transfer compared to the hydrophilic surface. Experimental trends could be in theory explained by assuming slip at the wall.
