Source-sink relationship was perturbed in two sugarcane cultivars. Exogenous sucrose reduces photosynthesis through biochemical and stomatal limitations. Both Rubisco and PEPC activities were down-regulated by sucrose spraying. Increased sink demand nulled the inhibitory effect of sucrose on sugarcane photosynthesis.
