A pilot-scale system was built to treat cellulosic ethanol biorefinery wastewater. The combined CSTR-IC-SBR system with ozone-enhanced unit showed 85% of COD removal. The ozone improved the biodegradability of anaerobic effluent from 0.15 to 0.33. The shortcut biological nitrogen removal process was developed and operated stable.
