Oblique shock wave reduces the adiabatic film cooling effectiveness. Discrete shock wave causes non-uniform pressure and film cooling distributions. Wider shock wave generators reduce the film cooling effectiveness upstream. 30 mm wide wedge has the lowest film cooling in the middle and downstream region. Discrete shock wave produces z-direction secondary flows in the boundary layer.
