A 4 bit ADC based on photonic crystal platform is presented.

for the first time, successive approximation-like method is implemented to realize ADC in nonlinear photonic crystals.

This tunable ADC uses Kerr-like nonlinearity as its tunable signal quantization mechanism.

Our device use optical limiters inherently, thus it requires less nonlinear rings compared to their fiber based schemes.

It consumes really low power with very low loss and it is ultra-compact sized compared to their fiber based schemes.
