A series of mononuclear nickel (II) and copper (II) complexes containing N,N′-dimethyl-N,N′-bis-(pyridine-2-ylmethyl)-1,2-diaminoethane ligand and its derivatives have been prepared. Structural data along with theoretical calculation on these coordination complexes revealed different geometries based on the central metal ion. Synthesis of a new bispicen ligand derivative with more electron-donating groups in the pyridine ring is reported.
