Using a multicenter electronic health record based clinical database, we characterized histamine-2 receptor (H2) blocker use in very low birth weight (VLBW) infants.

We found that despite decreasing use over time, VLBW infants frequently remained exposed to H2 blockers and that exposure was associated with increased morbidity and mortality.
