The wood widely known as Dadoxylon keuperianum is renamed Agathoxylon keuperianum.
A former lectotypification is superseded and a syntype is reappraised.
It is reported for the first time outside from Germany, i.e., in S-Poland and NE-France.
Limited to the German Keuper sedimentary basin, it has a palaeoecological potential.
Its significant variability suggests that it belongs to some basal conifer family.
