We evaluated desert tortoise short-distance mitigation-translocation releases in spring.
Translocated tortoise temperatures were highest in the first month post-release then mimicked residents and controls.
Body condition and carapace length increased post-translocation for all groups.
Mortality probability did not differ among groups or years.
Our results suggest minimal impacts of spring short-distance translocation in a solar energy hotspot.
