We developed a field method for a rapid assessment of forest soil fertility.
It allows the estimation of soil acidity, base saturation and nitrogen availability.
It is based on a partial floristic inventory and the use of species indicator values.
It can be used either at the site, forest or national scale.
It could help to adapt forest management practices in a context of global changes.
